Part 6 of 16Seven Lamps Before the Throne

Image of God

9:57 Chapter 2: The Image of God

Adam, Eve and Cain as the first human family — and what being made in God's image reveals about the Father, the Spirit and the Son.

About this episode

Part 6 turns to Genesis and considers how the first human family reveals a created reflection of God’s triune Personhood. Adam, Eve and Cain — father, mother and son — mirror the family pattern Yona Tree sees in the Father, the Spirit and the Son.

Paul writes that the invisible things of God are “clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made” (Romans 1:20). If humanity alone is said to be made in God’s image, our own relationships may help us understand the relationships within the Godhead.

The episode asks four simple questions: Were you ever born physically? Who is your physical mother? Were you ever born spiritually? Who is your spiritual Mother? Two Members of the Trinity are presented as our Parents and one as our Spouse — so that believers can find completeness and fulfillment in God alone.
