A Treatise on
Who is the Holy Spirit?
A Biblical exploration of the identity of the Holy Spirit and the divine family revealed throughout Scripture.
For centuries, the Holy Spirit has often been described as mysterious or undefined within Christian theology. Who Is the Holy Spirit? explores the Scriptures to uncover the nature, role, and symbolism of the Spirit within the Holy Trinity and the life of believers. Through biblical study, historical sources, and theological reasoning, this book presents the Holy Spirit as the life-giving and nurturing Person of the Trinity who brings humanity into the family of God.
“The WIND bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is everyone that is born of the SPIRIT" John 3:8
Revelation 2:7
"To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life."

Below is a brief overview of the seven chapters of the book.
Who is the Holy Spirit?
The book begins by examining the roles of the three Persons of the Trinity and asks a simple but profound question: who exactly is the Holy Spirit? Through a series of scriptural observations, the chapter explores the Spirit’s role in spiritual birth and concludes that the Spirit functions as the nurturing and life-giving parent within the divine family.
The Image of God
This chapter explores the meaning of humanity being created in the “image of God.” By examining the first human family in Genesis—father, mother, and child—the book suggests that the structure of human relationships reflects the relational nature of the Trinity itself.
The Pronoun Problem
Why does the Bible sometimes use masculine language for the Holy Spirit? This chapter explains how linguistic differences between Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic influence translation and demonstrates how grammar does not necessarily determine the nature or identity of the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit in Biblical Symbolism
The Spirit of God is often revealed through symbols such as the dove, the hen gathering her young, the eagle, and the wind. This chapter examines these biblical images and shows how they portray the Spirit as a nurturing presence that comforts, protects, and guides God's people.
Lady Wisdom
The book of Proverbs describes “Wisdom” as a woman who existed with God before creation. This chapter compares the description of Lady Wisdom with the attributes of the Holy Spirit and explores the possibility that these passages reveal another symbolic portrait of the Spirit.
Like Mother, Like Daughter
This chapter examines the relationship between the Holy Spirit and the Church. Just as believers are born again through the Spirit, the Church itself becomes the Bride of Christ, reflecting the character and nature of the Spirit who dwells within it.
The Way to Eternal Life
The final chapter ties together the book’s themes through the biblical imagery of the Tree of Life, the Word of God, and spiritual rebirth. It explains how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit work together in the salvation of humanity and invites readers to experience the new life offered through Christ.
The Question That Begins the Journey
But who is the Holy Spirit?
1. Are there three distinct Persons revealed within the Holy Trinity?
Correct Answer: YES
1 John 5:7, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost (OR “Spirit”): and these three are one.”
2. Is there a Parent / Child relationship revealed within the Holy Trinity?
Correct Answer: YES
John 3:35, “For the Father loveth the Son (REFERRED TO AS “the Word” IN THE VERSE ABOVE), and he hath given all things into his hand.”
3. Who is the Son of God the Father?
Correct Answer: JESUS CHRIST
John 20:31, “And these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
4. Is the Holy Spirit a second Child figure of this Parent / Child union found within the Holy Trinity?
Correct Answer: NO
WHY? Jesus is the only member of the Holy Trinity who is begotten of the Father
John 1:14, “And the Word (JESUS) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.”
5. Were both the Father and the Holy Spirit involved in the conception of Christ?
Correct Answer: NO
WHY? Jesus is the only member of the Holy Trinity who is begotten of the Father
John 1:14, “And the Word (JESUS) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.”
6. Is the Holy Spirit a second Parent figure revealed within the Holy Trinity?
Correct Answer: YES
Matthew 1:18, “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: when his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.”
7. Since the Holy Spirit IS a second Parent figure of the Trinity, what does that mean? Is the Holy Spirit a second Father figure within the Trinity?
Correct Answer: NO
WHY? There is only one God the Father. A person should not pray, “Our Fathers who art in heaven.”
Matthew 23:9, “...for ONE is your Father, which is in heaven.”
8. Which member of the Holy Trinity is responsible for the process of birth in scripture?
Correct Answer: THE HOLY SPIRIT
John 3:6, “That which is born of flesh is flesh; that which is born of Spirit is spirit.”
9. Mankind was made in the image of God. Is birthing a male or a female function of the human race?
Correct Answer: BIRTHING IS A FEMALE FUNCTION
Genesis 3:16, “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children...”
10. Are both males and females made in the image of God?
Correct Answer: BIRTHING IS A FEMALE FUNCTION
Genesis 3:16, “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children...”
11. So, considering that females are also made in the image of God,
AND that birthing is a female function,
AND that the Holy Spirit performs the birthing function,
AND that the Holy Spirit is the second Parent figure within the Holy Trinity,
AND that the Holy Spirit is NOT our second Heavenly Father...
WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?
Rational Conclusion: The Holy Spirit is the Mother figure within the 2-Parent / 1-Child family union of the Holy Trinity.
Matthew 3:16
"And Jesus, when he was baptized… the Spirit of God descending like a dove."
